I can't figure out how to use the link button.

Its really strange, but I cannot seem to get the link button to work. I would think that all you would have to do to insert a link in a post is to click the link button and type the URL, but once I publish the post, the link isn't there. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong, please let me know.
